Went to find bass in Meetinghouse Pond. I've been fishing it since I was a kid and had never caught one, nobody I know has caught one either, but Fish & Game reports they're there, so I went to see if it was true. Caught eight LMB between me and my dad, so I guess it's true. |

We went to Tower Hill Pond this time because on the last two trips one of my friends hasn't caught anything. I figured everyone would have good luck there, but I was wrong. I think we spent too much time fishing in spots waiting for action instead of moving on to find the fish. |

I headed out to Head's Pond and Lakin's Pond in the morning with a couple friends from work. We started out in Head's Pond off a rock that stuck out past the lilly pads a little. My usual wacky-rig wasn't getting any attention, so I tried dragging a frog over the pads. I had a few strikes from some big bass, but they all missed. There were a bunch of small fish jumping around the rock and I wanted to find out what they were, so I threw in a rooster-tail and caught one. It was a golden shiner, but I did see some largemouth fry and other random sunfish swimming around with them. After a couple hours we went further on to Lakin's Pond and I caught a small largemouth. On the other side of the road there was an inlet to Head's Pond and I threw the wacky-rig to the other side and caught a huge largemouth. I lost him at the shore though, so it doesn't count. I caught another small largemouth, one of my friends got a sun burn, and the other broke his rod trying to retrieve a snagged lure, so we decided to call it a day. |

I took my buddy out to Tower Hill to make up for the last trip that didn't produce any fish. It was pretty crowded out there today, but we both did alright. He landed a few 1.5-2 pounders while I was catching nothing over half a pound, but I made up for it with 3.5-4 pounder at the end of the night. |

I showed up just as the cops were leaving today after someone broke into two cars parked on the road. I didn't have any trouble with mine, but it's something to keep in mind when you have to park on a secluded road in the woods to access your favorite fishing spot. Other than that I had a great day and caught three nice bass and a fry. |

I went back to Tower Hill Pond this afternoon hoping for another good limit, optimistically hoping for enough to put me over 100 for the year, but it started raining soon after I arrived. The bass were reluctant to hit anything, but I did land four when it stopped for about an hour. |

I went back to the beach I found the last time I came out to Massabesic. I caught a small bass on my first cast and another with the second. A heron flew in and didn't seem to mind me fishing right next to it. Five loons came through the cove too, but they didn't get as close. I landed four bass, but they were all pretty small. I did see one about two pounds swim by in front of me, but he ignored a jitterbug that went right over his head. |

I spent a few hours fishing Lake Massabesic to try something different. I've never had good luck here, but I decided to try out a new spot anyways. After a couple hours fishing my way down the shore I still hadn't caught anything, but I ran into a couple people fishing that I recognized. They told me the road we were parked on goes a lot further, so in my last hour I drove down as far as I could and walked to the side of a long sandy beach. I had a bass on with my first cast, but it was small and slipped off the hook. I caught a larger one soon after and started heading back. On the way out I stopped at a few more places and landed a decent smallmouth. |

Spent a couple hours fishing at my favorite pond. Still no milfoil and weeds around the edges, so it's perfect for shore fishing. There were loons calling across the water, a heron flew over and I saw the water snake again. I got a better look at its head and I'm almost certain it wasn't a water mocassin. It's a really nice place to spend an afternoon and fishing makes it even better. |

I spent a few hours fishing at Tower Hill Pond. First I ran into a three-foot snake shedding its skin as I crossed the dam; I'm not sure if it was a young water moccasin, or a northern watersnake. I decided not to bother it anyway, but hung its shed to dry and continued on my way. My usual spot was occupied, so I went to the stream outlet and caught two largemouths and a smallie. The bass I caught were not very big, but I did see some 2-3 pounders follow my bait for a few seconds before turning away. I headed back to my regular spot and discovered clumps of tangled mono, hooks, five different color mangled senkos and a few beer cans left behind by the kids earlier. I caught a smallmouth, a common snapping turtle, and my 50th bass of the year. On the way to the truck I caught another largemouth and smallmouth. |

Vacation's over and I have to go back to work, but I had two hours to kill today, so I headed back to the Intervale Country Club on the Merrimack to try and catch a few largemouths, or anything else that would bite. It was a bit cloudy and all I caught was a tiny kibbie on a mepps, but I did see a few nice bass. One was probably close to four pounds, but he didn't want to eat anything. The kibbies weren't even scared of him. | - |
