Squam Lake Description

Squam Lake is known for it Landlocked Salmon and Lake Trout. There are also good poulations of Smallmouth Bass and Chain Pickerel in the shallow areas. The lake is a natural body of water raised by a dam on the Little Squam River. The 61 mile shoreline is rocky and wooded with moderate development. The bottom is typical of a northern, cold water lake - sandy, gravelly and rocky. Squam is a picturesque lake and, in summer, it busy with boat traffic. There are several marina launch sites on Little Squam Lake (just southwest of Squam Lake) with access to Squam Lake via Squam Channel.

Squam Lake is a lake located in central New Hampshire, USA, south of the White Mountains, straddling the borders of Grafton, Carroll, and Belknap Counties. The largest town center on the lake is Holderness. The lake is located northwest of much larger Lake Winnipesaukee.
